Mixing & Matching

Patterns patterns everywhere! At least, that's what I keep seeing. Personally, this mixing of patterns is something that scared me a little bit at first. However I kept stumbling across articles & tips on how to effectively wear them, the more that I read the more confidence I got & felt like I could pull it off. So in preparation, I put together a few outfits that I feel would be very "me" and right on trend for this mixing & matching!

Mixing this brightly patterned skirt with a more toned down patterned blouse complete with a denim jacket {which is a must this fall} keeps the look clean, chic & pulled together. You do not want to pair two extremely bright and crazy patterns together creating a competition between pieces. Choose your statement or stand out pattern and create the rest of the outfit around it. Finishing this look off with the suede tan boot and the fringe cross body bag, you will be a hit & it is almost a guarantee that you will be complimented on your outfit!

This very toned down mixing of patterns and fabrics is perfect for those of us who are a bit timid and shy when it comes to standing out & trying this trend for the first time. Instead of mixing a patterned skirt and also a patterned blouse, I opted for a sweater that uses the fabric as the pattern. Just as effective & keeping with the trend but not over bearing. Keeping it very lady-like with the light pink purse and white ballet flats, this outfit would be perfect for a day out with your girlfriends!

Something that the majority of us ladies have to think about is what we are going to wear to work. With this outfit I feel as though you can be extremely on trend while presenting yourself appropriately at the office. Keeping the entire outfit very toned down with the tan and beige it really helps the bright red of the skirt pop just enough. The red accents in the blouse pulls this outfit together excellently. Finishing it off with the tan blazer, closed toed heels & the over-sized bag this outfit will be a hit in the office!

Mixing patterns and fabrics is something that can look absolutely amazing if it is done correctly, however with such a thin line {in my opinion} it is just as easy to go the other way. The biggest piece of advice I would give, make sure you choose wisely, pick an anchor piece and go from there. Stay within a color family as well, mixing too colors along with patterns can be way too confusing and not at all appealing to the eye.

I hope that with the outfits I have presented it can help you feel more confident in choosing to tackle this fashion trend!

Which is your favorite?
